Lawn Treatments and Fertilization Programs
Seasonal fertilizer applications, weed control, and targeted insect prevention, designed for thicker turf, stronger roots, and consistent color.
Lawn care at Dr. Green Lawn means professional lawn treatments, not mowing. Our lawn treatments and fertilization programs focus on fertilization, weed control, and targeted insect prevention to help your turf grow thicker, stay greener, and hold up through the season.
Since 1983, we’ve timed applications to match local growing conditions and the weeds and insects that show up at predictable points each year. We serve Western New York and Northern Pennsylvania, including Cattaraugus, Chautauqua, and Allegany counties in NY, plus Potter and McKean counties in PA.

Four Visit Lawn Treatment Program
Our Four Visit program is part of our Lawn Treatments and Fertilization Programs, a seasonal lawn treatment plan built around granular, slow release fertilization, weed control, and proactive prevention for common regional issues like crabgrass and grubs. Starting in mid to late April, each application is timed in roughly six to seven week intervals to match how cool season turf actually grows in Western New York and Northern Pennsylvania. We use water activated, slow release granules that feed the plant steadily as rainfall or irrigation dissolves nutrients into the root zone. The goal is simple, improve turf density, reduce weed pressure, and keep your lawn progressing through the season without the highs and lows that come with quick fading products.
Deluxe Lawn Treatment Program With Lime and Aeration
The Deluxe Program includes everything in the Four Visit plan, plus liming and core aeration to improve soil conditions and help your lawn use nutrients more effectively. Lime helps balance soil pH so the grass plant can better absorb fertilizer and minerals, which supports stronger growth and more consistent color.
Aeration relieves compaction by pulling small plugs from the turf, opening the soil so air, water, and nutrients reach the root zone. As roots deepen and thicken, lawns handle summer stress better, recover faster, and resist insect pressure more naturally.

What Happens During Each Visit
Early Spring
We apply granular slow release fertilizer with pre emergent crabgrass control, plus weed control to start reducing broadleaf weeds as they emerge. Since weeds germinate at different points in the season, this early work sets the foundation for cleaner turf over time.
Late Spring
We apply another granular slow release fertilizer and add surface to subsurface insect prevention, including grub protection, then follow with weed control for newly germinated growth.
Summer
We continue the slow release feeding schedule and focus on spot treating seasonal weeds like crabgrass and nutsedge, which often needs specific attention to control properly. This is where consistent monitoring matters, because summer weeds can spread fast if ignored.
Fall
We finish with a fertilizer blend that supports root strength and the plant crown, helping your lawn store energy for winter and rebound faster in spring, with a final touch up on any remaining weeds.
Program Options and Expectations
You can choose fewer visits, but four visits is the full plan designed to deliver the most consistent results across the entire season. In our service area, four properly timed applications are enough to feed the lawn, control weeds, and prevent common insect damage without over treating.
We also avoid quick fading approaches that require constant reapplication. Our focus is steady nutrition, better soil conditions, and treatments that support healthier turf over the long run.

Some applications perform best with light watering, and granular fertilizer is activated by moisture. We will leave guidance after each visit based on that day’s treatment and conditions.
Yes. Our programs include surface to subsurface insect protection, including grub prevention, timed for when pressure is most common in our region.
Yes. We use pre emergent treatments to reduce crabgrass early, then target seasonal weeds with follow up weed control. Nutsedge can require focused spot treatments during summer.
We use professional products applied at label rates. We recommend keeping children and pets off the lawn until the application has dried or has been watered in, depending on the treatment that day.
Granular products are water activated, so normal rainfall is typically helpful. If weather affects a specific treatment, we adjust timing or return as needed.
Granular slow release fertilizer feeds gradually. You may notice improved color and growth within a couple of weeks, then more consistent performance as the season progresses.
The Deluxe Program includes everything in the Four Visit plan, plus lime and core aeration. These add ons help improve soil conditions, nutrient uptake, and root strength.
The program includes granular slow release fertilization, weed control timed to seasonal growth, pre emergent crabgrass prevention, and surface to subsurface insect protection, including grub prevention.
Four visits is the full program designed for consistent season long improvement. Fewer visits can help, but you will not get the same level of weed control and turf density as a complete plan.
Most programs begin in mid to late spring, based on weather and turf growth. Your first visit is scheduled when conditions are right for pre emergent protection and early season feeding.
No. Our lawn care focuses on lawn treatments like fertilization, weed control, and targeted insect prevention. We do not offer mowing or weekly cutting.
